Toto’ e Daiana nasce una sera d’estate durante una cena in una terrazza romana. Ad un tratto, nel bel mezzo del dessert , Anna Elena e Marco si ritrovano a parlare nei loro dialetti di origine rispettivamente il ferrarese ed il siciliano.
Da qui l’idea di raccontare le avventure di due emigrati italiani di diversa età ed estrazione sociale in una città come Londra in un momento delicato come quello della Brexit.
Totò e Daiana probabilmente non avrebbero stretto amicizia se non si fossero trovati entrambi in un Paese straniero e nella condizione di solitudine che questo può comportare. Tifosi e non, espatriati e non, Totò e Daiana rappresentano un po’ ogni persona che, a tentoni, in modo un po’ maldestro e buffo, cerca il proprio posto nel mondo. Un posto che potrebbe rivelarsi molto diverso da quanto immaginato.
Toto ‘e Daiana was born on a summer evening over dinner on a Roman terrace. Whilst suddenly when they are having their dessert Anna Elena and Marco start a conversation in their original dialects , respectively Ferrarese and Sicilian.
Hence the idea of telling the story of two emigrants of different ages and social backgrounds living in a city like London in a delicate moment like that of Brexit.
Totò and Daiana would never have become friends should they have not found themselves hosts in a foreign country with that sense of loneliness that this can entail. Fans or not, expatriates or not, Totò and Daiana represent that group of people who, in a somewhat clumsy and funny way, seeks their place in the world. A place that could turn out to be very different from what they imagined.
