Pirandello’s One Day Conference

WOH Productions is glad to be featuring in the annual one day conference hosted by the Society for Pirandello Studies. Come and support us on Saturday 10th November at Bloomsbury Theatre from 10am to 5pm. Please note: PERFORMANCES START AT 3.30PM NO FEE IF YOU ATTEND ONLY THE PERFORMANCES

The Society for Pirandello Studies, in collaboration with the UCL Italian department (SELCS), will be hosting a one-day conference, Selves as Others: Identity in Pirandello, which aims to embrace a wide variety of methods and approaches to Pirandello’s œuvre, as well as to bring together theatre professionals, critics, and scholars representing a range of disciplines. Keynote speakers include Claudio Vicentini (Istituto Universitario Orientale, Naples) and Ann Caesar (University of Warwick).

We will present two pieces, inspired by the theme of the conference Selves as Others: Identity in Pirandello

One is directed by Manuela Ruggiero with the students of our Education Department and Marco Gambino. The piece explores scenes from Sei Personaggi in cerca d’Autore and Il Berretto a Sonagli with the physical theatre. If you want to know more about our Education Department please click here

We are also lucky enough to have Terry d’Alfonso directing Marco Gambino in Phantoms and the Effects of an Interrupted Dream, written by Terry d’Alfonso and Enzo Lauretta (Director and Founder of the Centro Pirandelliano of Agrigento). The piece is based on the magical and surreal works of Luigi Pirandello. We are looking to develop the piece further into a full production in 2013.
