“Dante’s Suite”. Palermo, Oratorio di San Lorenzo 2nd October 2012

20 Sep ’12

In this unique production, music played a central role, creating an on-stage character that traveled alongside Dante in his journey through the Inferno, from circle to circle. With an original score written for Mr. Morgenstern by the noted American composer, Bruce Saylor, the music “acted” as Dante’s inner voice -in dialogue, as witness, and as inner monologue. The music has subsequently been adapted for concert versions using selections of the original text from each corresponding canto. The result is a mini-narrative of the Inferno, in Dante’s own words, and a remarkable marriage of words and music.
Marco Gambino e Gil Morgenstern two years ago decided to readapt the short version of the Dante Suite for an international audience and have been touring  Europe since, including cities like Rome, Florence, Venice and London.
Morgenstern and Gambino will present Dante’s suite for the first time in Palermo in aid of ITACA  an international voluntary association for the mentally disabled.
